Inventory Control Specialist - Indianapolis, IN

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for the proper and timely receiving of inbound product and other packaging materials. Additionally, this person is responsible for inventories of warehouse/packaging supplies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee receiving team and ensure timely receiving of all inbound product.
  • Ensure product is received, rated, stored and processed accordingly following FIFO principles.
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly inventory reconciliation of raw goods, raw materials, packaging.
  • Maintains accurate inventory counts by supporting physical inventories, performing cycle counts, and transacting items in ERP.
  • Ensures that all product received comes from approved vendors who have been approved by Compliance department.
  • Maintains an orderly warehouse by moving items from/ to the appropriate inventory location, following housekeeping rules.
  • Ships/ Receives/ Returns items by performing the needed ERP transactions, packaging/ unpacking items, creating labels, and generating the needed documentation.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions and solve problems immediately.
  • Ability to work well with others and maintain organization between cross-related departments.
  • Displays ability to multitask and handle multiple issues under pressure without stress.
  • Assists management and buyer on other duties as requested.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school degree or GED
  • Experience in shipping and receiving, excel, and ERP systems.
  • Experience working with perishable produce.

  • Bilingual Spanish-English.
  • Associates degree in business.

  • MS Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability for self-initiative and self-motivation

WORK ENVIRONMENT: office/cold

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: must be able to lift 25bs, walk in and out of refrigerated space at 35F, squat, bend. Intermittent sitting and standing. Available to work occasional nights, holidays and weekends.
